Alienware FX from Command Center doesn't work on the 2011 M11X R3
So I just received my brand new 2011 M11X R3 last week and last night I reformatted the laptop with the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium CD that came with the laptop. After the Windows 7 installation, I installed the drivers etc. from the M11XR3 Resource DVD. Because I couldn't find the command center in this DVD, I went to the Dell support page, plugged in my service tag and downloaded the command center from the application list. After doing so, the laptop rebooted and lo and behold, I get the "Microsoft .Net framework" unhandled exception error window. I clicked continue and then I proceed to open up the command center. Unfortunately the AlienwareFX program opens but I'm unable to see the buttons that will allow me to change the colors of my keyboards, etc. The Alienware Fusion works and everything else works fine.
Later I did some googling on the subject and was pointed to look at the device manager. Lo and behold, there's a yellow exclamation mark on the 'Unknown Devices - SM Bus Controller"
I've gone on this forum and looked for a solution but all solution points to downloading the command center from the dell support page which I did...
Lastly, I found this link which seems to indicate the problem I've been having so I followed the instructions and downloaded the Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility and it seem to have removed the little exclamation mark problem in the device manager. Unfortunately, the Alienware FX still did not work.
Chris, please help. I would hate to return this laptop as it is top of the line.......

I've found a solution. Dell Alienware support wanted to charge me $65 to troubleshoot the missing drivers etc. even though my laptop is essentially new so i went ahead and fixed it myself.
And it's definitely missing drivers etc., (software) that's causing the issue because all I did was clone my friend's Alienware M11X R3 hard drive to mine and everything worked again. I'm currently using an OCZ Vertex 3 SSD and everything works perfectly. I've even posted a video on Youtube to show how this is done:

The right solution is not using the drivers provided by dell with your service tag. Use the ones displayed when searching by model. Also, for the Command Center to work, you need .net framework 4. Another recommendation is to fully update win7 before installing the Command Center, but I don't know if its neccessary. Finally I can mention that each version of the Command Center requirec a certain Synaptics driver version, but also don't know if its neccessary.

Hi, for over two years I'm having the same issue, I tried reinstaling commandcenter and netframework but i still have problems, the drivers that appear when I do the search are from the official page. Can you please tell me how to look for them then. Thank You very much in advance.
