Alienware laptop: M17x R4 GPU issue
Hello,
My alienware M17x R4 have this weird issue where it keep getting blue screen / black screen (And the laptop close) whilie gaming.
It is a known issue with no solution (not even a solution from Dell, I believe)
More information on this issue can be found here:
http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/p/19545021/20739707#20739707
I am making this new thread to respect DELL-Chris M decision of closing our last thread. To make sure DELL-Chris M doesn't close this thread too, I ask everyone NOT to post email adress or legal advice, because posting legal advice is illegal on Dell forum. I also ask DELL-Chris M to please, not close this thread if an user post legal advice. Instead, could it be possible to remove the user and leave our thread open so we can freely discuss our Alienware M17x R4 common super-known-yet-not-aknowledged-from-Dell GPU issue? Thanks.
Is there anyone with any hint at a solution? I am asking you, public, because Dell, has no answer for us yet. I believe they need our help to diagnose this probelm further.
So far, proposed solution are:
Switching the GPU to a newer model
Running third party application that will let your FAN run at max speed - work temporarly
Running third party application that let you underclock your GPU speed - work temporarly
Installing Linux - Seem to work, but not all game are available
If this common crash happen to you, please try to post some "step" to replicate the issue so Dell can replicate it.
If you have any crash log, they would most likely help too!

I would also like to note that I wanted to try the troobleshooting step provided by DELL-Chris M for my alienware m17x r4, but the page is not valid.[DEAD LINK /owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19457430]http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19457430
