Alienware M17X Keyboard problem!

Bought my m17x in october. Keys  67yuhjnm do not work on laptop.  Tech came yesterday and replaced keyboard.  Worked for a bit until he left now they wont work again.  Tried restoring and wiping system to no avail.

Anyone else having or had a simular problem. Or know how to cure this problem...

Cheers

Same problem for me.

My son had its alienware at 1500€ working for 4 months, then the keyboard did not work anymore

DELL charged me 250€ for a new keyboard which did not solve anything.

DELL wants now to replace the motherboard for another 450€ while I told them the motherboard is ok since the computer still works with an external keyboard.

Hello here,

What are the news 1 year later ?

I've got a similar problem with my m17x r4 : ctrl keys, i, backspace, enter, 4, 5, 6 doesn't work anymore. But if I use ctrl+i or ctrl+4 or ctrl+each non working key, it works (add i, 4, ... ). Ctrl-c, ctrl-x, ctrl-z doesn't work.

I made a full reinstall (format + réinstall) so it's not a virus of a software problem.

I bought a new keyboard and replace it : same problem

First screen after boot ask to hit ctrl+i to manage raid disks, ctrl+i even doesn't work at this moment

So the last solution for me is to réinstall the motherboard but it's expensive, I've to be sure this will solve the problem...

External usb keyboard works. And hopefully. :)

Hello again,

I've just replaced the motherboard (460€) and guess what ? The problem is still there !!

I don't understand... And the best think is : it is other keys that doesn't work now.

Does someone have an idea of what could cause the problem ? Electric alimentation ? Same problem on battery or on AC with the battery out.

I'm desperate.

Hi, gentlemen.

The same problem also with me. It doesn't work sometimes, especially during logon and "warming up" process. After 20 minutes later the start to work. Very ridiculous.  I found this post via Google by typing "67yuhjnm"  =) So guys,  according to my research and user's experiences I think it should be a hardware problem. I nowhere found it happened with other brands. It is Dell's failure.

Hi Brace,

It's been a year since your laptop post regarding your R4's problem. Have you finally sorted it out?

Thank you
