Alienware m17x r1 "battery not detected"
Hello,
My alienware m17x r1 will not charge. It has a big X over the battery icon, and it says battery not detected. Also when I go to my bios it doesn't have the 240 watt label on it. Here are the possibilities, My bios is out of date AO2, my battery pack is dead, or the motherboard that is connecting to my battery pack is broken. I've tried pulling out battery pack and ac adapter and hold down power button for a minute. But that doesn't work. Also the laptops isn't getting the performance it's fully capable of. Im pretty sure that's, because my graphics card[Gtx 260m] isn't getting enough power. Please help. Thanks.

Hello,
Start by updating the BIOS:
M17x r1 BIOS A07
And run a PC diagnostics using AlienAutopsy as explained on this video:

If you have not installed AlienAutopsy yet, check out this article:

Thank you so much for replying. I noticed that the battery not detected turned into a "consider replacing your battery" So do you think replacing the battery would be the solution? Also isn't there a chance i might kill my motherboard while I am upgrading my bios. Again, tank you so much

For the BIOS update, you just have to download the file, and run it, and the AC adapter must be connected during the update.

The correct power supply will give you the same performance, unless there's a separated issue with the graphics card.

But my adapter might be broken, so my graphics card wont get enough power.
