Alienware R4, 17 Inch - A Few Problems
Hi everyone
I received my order from Dell on Thursday last week. Initially, things seemed okay but I have been plagued with a few very annoying issues.
Firstly, I've been getting freezing and crashing on almost all games. The two I'm attempting to play most at the moment are WoW and Fallout 4.
Both games, every 30 seconds or so will stop responding for a second or two and then catch up. The graphics will just completely stop working and then a few seconds later I'm back playing. This is sometimes accompanied by the sounds you used to get with an old school blue screen of death.
Speaking of the blue screen of death, I've been getting an error message with BAD_POOL_CALLER multiple times per day. This occurs randomly as far as I can see and it always ends up with a restart.
I wasn't expecting these issues at all and it's fairly disappointing considering the price of the machine.
For informations sake:

would you check the Reliability History? open Start and type "Relia" then choose "Show Reliability History" from the List. are there any Errors? Tobii Eye Tracking related for Example?

Hi Dr8Ball,
Try running an ePSA/Diagnostic test on the system, click here to view a Dell article that explains how to run this test. Let me know if you receive any errors.
Open device manager and see if there's no exclamation mark and make sure the BIOS is up to date as well as the video driver.
Also, run this application to check for bluescreens and its cause. BlueScreenView doesn't require any installation process or additional dll files. In order to start using it, simply run the executable file - BlueScreenView.exe
After running BlueScreenView, it automatically scans your MiniDump folder and display all crash details in the upper pane. Click here to download the app, then please attach an screenshot with the results.

If you:
- Have the latest BIOS
- Have re-seated the ram memory DIMMs (if you know how)
- ePSA passes
I would say probably a bad motherboard and/or ram-memory like these (IIRC, 15-R3 and 17-R4 are similar tech).
Brand new Alienware 17 R4 BSOD
and
BSOD
I hate to say it, but if not easily fixable (without replacing parts and boards) I would return it.
After refund, start shopping and buying processes over.
