Alienware R4, Lightning Damage, Onsite service nightmare
So a week ago I got hit by lightening and the network card on the motherboard got hosed. The system still worked but just not the network connection. So I called tech support because I have the awesome warranty. The part does not arrive till Wednesday which is fine but it is a bad motherboard so they put the device back together with the old motherboard and I am back up and running but still with no connectivity. So I go out and buy a wireless USB network adapter for temporary. So on Friday a different tech arrives and the fist thing he says is, "I have never worked on an alienware before.". My heart sank. He did not even know how to open the case. He struggled getting the graphics card out and I had to help him. All the components were a struggle for him and he ranted on how he hated alienware and tech support and literally cursed and screamed at my computer. I was very uncomfortable with him. At one point I almost told him to leave, but I wanted my computer working. He finally got it all together and guess what? It would not boot up. I told him just put the old motherboard back in so I can do work on it (its my work computer, I work from home). So he puts my old motherboard back in and gets it all back together. Now my machine wont even bootup. So Dell here is the deal, you all need to train these folks better. Regarding my Dell experience, it is safe to say I will be reassessing my loyalty as I have always bought Dells and Alienware. Right now I have an Aurora-R4 sitting on my floor broken worse then it was before by the service tech. Someone else is coming back on Monday? But I don't think they will get it back working. I doubt the onsite company Dell sent. I am pretty sad right now working on my old xps dreaming of my machine working.

Frater0,
Our apologies for the bad onsite service.
The Limited Hardware Warranty does not cover damage done by lightning. The extra CompleteCare Accidental Damage warranty does cover lightning.
