Alienware X51 Boot to Blank Screen

Just got an Alienware X51.  Here's what's wrong:

I needed to install a program and was having issues, I read online to try to boot in safe mode and try to install it there (with networking on)  I changed the settings so that Windows 8 would automatically boot in safe mode.  Now, it boots up to nothing but a blank screen.  I tried every keyboard entry thought of to try to get to BIOS or some sort of boot menu with no luck.  I inserted the recovery disk that came with the desktop to try to reinstall Windows.  It does not do anything, and now it will not eject.

So, I need any thoughts at all as to how I can get the desktop to not boot to an absolutely blank screen.  I am at a loss as to how I can get it working again.

Thanks,

Dan
