alienware x51 R2 won't boot into windows--help!
I bought my desktop in August 2014, and now I can't boot into windows 8. It hangs up at the alienware logo. I tried following the advice at the Dell Knowledge Base page for "Windows 8.x Hangs or Will Not Boot after Restart, Shutdown or Hibernate," but the computer won't respond to tapping either f2 or f12. Any help would be very much appreciated -- I've got an important paper on the computer that I need to finish!
Also, how can I find out whether or not the system is still under warranty?
Thanks...

if you don't have a recovery disk you should have made one, se if you can borrow one from someone to allow you to do the get to the recovery stuff. You might retry the boot into F12 several times, as Win 8 is not very responsive to the F keys because of Fast Boot; you need to be quick. Otherwise, contact Dell for a Recovery Disk

Thanks for the quick response! I have a CD called "Operating System; Already installed on your computer; Windows 8.1 Recovery Media for Windows 8.1 Products 64-bit."
However, I'm not a computer technie, and I don't know what to do with it. Any advice would be appreciated.

I found the problem--a connected backup drive had something wrong with it, so I disconnected it and the alienware booted up regularly.
Thanks for your quick response.
