Amplifier + VisionTek R9 390x = Issues

It is official, the VisionTek R9 390x video card DOES NOT FIT into the Amplifier! The only way I was able to make it fit was by removing the frontal black panel that protects both fans. It doesn't impact the cooling or causes any problems with the fans either, it is well protected into the Amplifier but still. It was a total stupidity that Dell hasn't tested the physical size of the card and make sure it FITS!!!

So the first problem has been fixed and the card was able to fit in without any problems at all. Now moving to problem number II.

PROBLEM 2

You can either shutdown the computer and plug the cable and reboot or while you are Windows, plug the cable and it will ask you to reboot.

Problems 2a: There is a 50/50 chance you will get a BLANK/BLACK screen which you have no choice to to a hard power off (meaning you press the power 5secs and done). It may require several power off/power on

Problem 2b: You can successfully load into windows BUT WAIT... your mouse will move slow and your system trays doesn't load... yup, windows isn't responding at this point.

Problem 2c: I should maybe say 1/3 of the time you will be able to load into windows and the video card driver is there and all is working smootly... WRONG!!! Lunch a game and it will use the INTEL card instead of the AMD... Loosing my hair from here

At this point I called Dell and they installed a 2015 AMD software which changes the driver from 390X to 200 and I did a few reboots but blank screens each time. Dell said they will try to replicate the problem on their Labs and call me back with a solution.

I've never had such hardware issues and I am getting really tired with their issues and not providing proper information or pointing the finger at the manufacture about the fitting of the video card. That is your responsibility Dell!!!

Moving forward... while waiting for them to call back I went to device manager - show hidden devices and manually updated the 200 series back to its original R9 390x driver. Of course it crashed Device Manager and windows did not respond... no worries... hard shutdown and waited a bit.

Rebooted while the Amplifier was connected, hard rebooted a second time and BANG!!! The bloody OS booted, was able to login, everything was running smoothly, the driver R9 390x was there and... and... I could play Fallout 4 full mode at 1080x1920.

I still find it smoother with the build in Nvidia and I am starting to believe this Amplifier is really trash and beta level.
