stay with me here. #1, most people can't run dual-TX. #2, your video cables, the ends which plug into a card have 8pin connex, which are called 6+2's. Granted, the psu-end of the cable is only a 6pin, but it has the appropriate jumper wires, so that in each vid-cable there are in fact 8 individual wires. Typically the 2pin segment of the 6+2 is inhabited by jumper wires if need be.

on the left you can see one of the black ground jumpers, right are the 6+2 8pins.

6+2's accommodate either a 6pin card or an 8pin card. the 2pin slips on when you need 8pin support

you've already got 8pins ... did that answer your concern?

if you have tri-sli, your system came with 6 cables, 2 cables per card, right? then you have enuff cables to run anything / everything out there. I believe 980's use 6pins, so I take it you found the 2pin sections which now go unused. your system can handle dualies, but, there's a page one thread a few down from yours called:

those people who do own dual-X's, can't get SLI to work & are waiting for a bios update to cure that.
