Area 51-R2, Slow CPU After Boot

Alienware Area 51-R2, Gtx 980, 5820k

Well basically since the newest windows 10 update, (KB3093266) evertime I cold boot the pc after its been off for about 10-12 hours the cpu is stuck at 0.4ghz and only a restart fixes it. Then the cpu works fine as it used to after the restart, could it be the newest windows update broke something in the motherboard bios?

Hi,

Just to confirm, does this cause slow performance until you restart the system? Make sure your system is running the latest Bios firmware, click here for the latest Bios download link.

Yes I'm running the latest bios (A03)

From what I've gathered so far it seems to happen sometimes on booting the pc, It doesn't happen everytime as this morning it was fine

The CPU will be stuck at 0.4ghz making the entire pc slow

Then After Rebooting I can use the pc all day perfectly fine.

It does seem to be software related somehow, either the overclock controls or the bios are having an issue with the current Windows 10 Update.

My Overclock is set to mode 2 aswell

Hi,

Have you tried disabling the overclocking settings to confirm if the same issue still occurs?

i still get this problem. everey time i hit the restart button in windows my cpu is stuck at 0.40ghz. and if i boot up my system my cpu stays between 0.86 and 0.89 ghz for about 30 secs and then it goes normal. i have all the updates for the bios and the command center and i tried reinstalling them. my cpu is an i7-5820k and i use level 2 oc in the alienware command center

Interesting. I have no such issue with my Area 51 R2, I wonder what the difference is?

I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit, fully updated, but it's a fresh install from scratch on a new SSD, not an upgrade of a Dell Win 8.1 factory image. Am running Alienware Command Centre 4.0.51.0 with the second overclocking setting activated. Latest A04 BIOS, default settings.

Also i5930 and 32GB 2400Mhz Crucial RAM (aftermarket, not from Dell).

yeah they still havent fixed this annoying issue. I talked with an employee and he simply blamed it on intel. So I guess we will have to wait :(

Yeah i called alienware support today about my issue with cpu being stuck at .39 ghz.( 5960X)They did not have any fixes, they told me they would look into it and call me back tomorrow morning. I do have a fresh install of windows 10. it is not the pro edition. When i go to my command center under cpu tab all my cores are -214748364.8. I reinstalled the command center twice, but no luck. What really bugs me is when i boot it getts stuck at .39 ghz. We need a fix for this!!!!!

hey guys sorry i haven't bin on for a while. i had the same problem for the longest time. dell could not figure it out. i looked at my boot sequence and for some reason i never change it back to my bootable harddrive first. i had it on usb, then cd, then bootable harddrive. after i chANGED IT I HAVENT HAD ANY ISSUES ON MY BOOT UP. I dont know why this would mess with the cpu, but after i changed it , it was ok. But i still some times after i boot up a game my frames would be very low, i would have to tab out to taskmanger then go back into game and it would be ok...weird

I fixed my issue by reinstalling my bios and overclocking my cpu manually it could be the auto overclock is causing these isues
