Not to sure what you are asking.  As for the 42 Amps, household outlets don't even go above 15 to 20 Amps.

KelC- Your statement has little relevancy to the question.  It does not matter about the amperage supply of the household outlet in this case.  A power supply is a transformer and by using Ohms law you can determine the current a power supply can produce from its wattage and voltage.  What a transformer does is either step up power or step down power.  The same concept works from the power generation plants up and down primary lines etc... to your house.

Rakkee- I am not sure about the Dell OEM power supply and its capabilities on which rail or connection supplies what output.  however most major branded power supplies will in fact produce at least that much power on a given rail.  But again I don't have the specifications on the Dell.

My Area 51 has been restarted in pc games over and over again Thereupon I called Dell and they sent a technician over, and the motherboard, graphics card, PSU, CPU cooling renewed. The computer has rebooted it in games again, and we have plugged in two different 12V line graphics problem was solved

Looks like you have only one ATI 5970.  If that is correct and you were using a 6 and 8 pin from one cable and had the rebooting problem but not when using a 6 pin from one cable and an 8 pin from another, then that would support moreblore's earlier outline of cable usage and my experience, - posted under "ATI HD-5xxx cards in desktop AW machines" contradicting the qouted Dell Document (at least when using two 5970's) - see my post of to-day under "Alienware Desktop Aurora-R3 shutting down"

Could you comment on the 6 & 8 pin usage from one cable issue?

I am not sure what you are saying, can you please explain a bit more? The gtx 580 has 2 8 pin connectors and my 875watt psu has 2 6pin and 2 2pin connectors. btw is the dell 875 watt psu enough for 1 gtx 580? the one I have needs more power than a regular one. its an Asus matrix gtx580 platinum edition.

The card has 2 8pin connectors, so i had to use 1 from each.

Use one power cable to power the 8-pin and another cable to power the 6-pin. ONLY one cable for each power connector on the card. If you try to power both from a single cable it will not work.

Your PSU has two cables. Use one on the 8 and one on the 6.

If you still do not understand then post a picture of how you have it wired and I will walk you through it.

If you got a camera handy take a pic and post it real quick.

This is my problem, The solution is to install it on the lower pcie slot, But the card I have is tripple lot so there is no space, what motherboard would fit into my case?

Your board and your system supports it but something else could be bad. We need to start eliminating stuff. Please post a pic so we can tell if it is wired right and if so we can move on to something else to try.

The guy in that post said he has a bad PCIe slot. You said your ATI card worked just fine so the slot has to be good unless you damaged it somehow when you installed the 580.

Easy way to tell would be to put the old card back in.

I dont have te old graphics card, I sold it to my friend, is there anyway I can install the crd on the lower pcie slot?

Thanks, that confirms my own experience - when I run into "re-boots" after using the in the by you qouted Dell document instructions relative to connecting Dual 5970's using only two cables and that moreblore's posted information as to cable usage are dead on and helpful.

If not already done so you may wish to relay the apparent incorrect instructions in that Dell Document, (I was not allowed to qoute, LOL) to the appropriate department so that appropriate changes are made where present instructions indicate to use only  two cables for Dual 5970 (haven't looked at other combinations in that document).

I tried different drivers and removed all the different stuffs, I took out the sound card and reseated the gpu cuople of times with 1 hdd, 1 ram stick, still didnt work.
