Are you able to see a blinking cursor or you just have solid black screen?

I have gotten the same on a few occassions now.

It started about two weeks ago, I went to turn on my Alienware 17 laptop and it remained at a blank black screen, the keyboard had lit up. I had to turn it off, left it for a while and came back to it a few hours later and it worked then. Only to get shouted at my it because i didn't turn it off properly ... but I've had the black screen at least 5 times since.

It also sometimes when it does work, the screen will turn white for a few seconds and then go back to normal when I'm using it.

Not sure if its the same problem but yeah...

just a solid black screen.

Do you hear the fans spinning, do the lights turn on?

What happen if you connect an external monitor to the system?

Any extra information will be appreciated.

The thing is that- I powered on the laptop, light glows, but no alienware sign on the screen.Only black screen , after some time, i hold the power button to power off.

And i know fans start at load, so it works fine. I tried to connect a monitor, but I was not able to do.

In that case it will be better to send the system to our repair facilities so they can check it out, if you live within US or Canada send me a PM with your service tag and a brief description of the problem so I can help you out otherwise contact the technical support in your country so they can assist you.

i live in india. i called up the customer care, they told that it might be the problem from building up of static charge in motherboard. and they run a diagnostic from bios, where there was no negative results. so , there is no hardware issue.

It’s better if you contact the technical support department so they can troubleshoot and fix the system for you.
