Check Media FAIL M18
i forced shutdown my alienware m18. (4months old) then i got this problem in the morning.
CHECK MEDIA: FAIL
PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT DEVICE:
i tried to reformat my laptop, but the problem still comes out. anyone pls help me. i really dont know what to do

Hello.
Do you have a mSATA cache drive?
If you do it sounds like it may have been corrupted during the force shutdown.
I have had similar problems in the past but I'm not 100% sure exactly how I fixed it.
You can try entering the RAID menu and disabling the msata, with a bit of luck you will be able to reboot and then enable your msata via the intel rapid storage program.
Can you please provide additional info on your laptop. Model, OS, RAM, GPU, HDD and what made you do a force shutdown to begin with.

I found the problem. Its error code 2000-0151 validation 85381
my laptop hang while playing a game. So i was forced to use the power buton.

Hi andrew, i cant find the dell psa or psa on the f12 menu. heres the error
error code 2000-0151
validation: 85381
msg: hard drive 0- S/n wd-WXJ1E2HTSM5, incorrect status =3E
smart predictive failure
trchnic support will need this information to diagnose the problem
pls record the above error and validation codes
I have checked my laptop, it still has waranty under dell

Hi again - FYI, you have an alienware 18 (drop the m).
I've checked out that error code and from the limited info I can find it says there may be a faulty HDD, but it also could be what I mentioned in my previous post, it may be a good idea to run some test, bootup your laptop and hit the F12 key straight away/repeatedly, select dell psa or psa and run that test.
It's not always accurate but its a place to start, report back results and any error codes displayed.
You can also try wiping the RAID volumes in the RAID menu, reboot your laptop and hit control I repeatedly, enter the RAID menu and delete all volumes - ONLY DO THIS IF YOU HAVE ALL DRIVERS ON AN EXTERNAL USB AND A O/S INSTALL USB OR DVD

It can be somewhat difficult to diagnose/troubleshoot issues via email, if it's still under warranty I suggest you try tech support and see how you go.
I suspect they will change the motherboard and/or the HDD's, make sure you give them all error codes.

I have an alienware 17 laptop with
Processor: intel Core i7-4710MQ CPU @ 2.50GHz
Installed memory (RAM): 16.0GB
System Type: 64-bit Operating system, x64-based processor (Windows 8)
Ever since my computer almost crashed from a spam folder my friend made which ran itself and opened tons of cmd windows my computer almost stoped forcing me to hold the power button down. a couple days after that in the top left of my computer on start-up it says
checking media...
checking media (fail)
and it repeats that twice before loading my computer like normal. im not shure if this is a threat to my computer but laity my computer has been running games at 10-40 fps while before they ran at 160fps please help and inform me more on this situation
