Command Center/MIO issue- Continuous high fan, Fan speed does not show in Thermal Controller
Hello,
Alien Aurora running the A11 Bios
I've installed a fresh version of Windows recently, and have been having issues with Command Center which seems to cause one of the fans to run continuously high. The fan speeds to not register in the Thermal Controller page; only shows 0% for all when its obviously not.
I didnt install the driver from the CD, I went to the Dell Support page to download the vers for my computer installed that (
2.5.35.0, A02), opened it up and installed "successfully". It prompted me that I needed to upgrade Command Center. Which I did the first time; and that obviously Ive found out is not suggested. .Nothing has worked. I've uninstalled/ reinstalled the same version (without upgrading), powered down & drained it (held power button for 30 seconds with cord out) and still no dice. Found a 2.6 version and tried running that (after uninstalling the previous version) ...still no dice. Ran the diagnostic test from the Utility Partition and it's giving me the message about disconnecting/reconnecting hub 1 and then retesting; and that fails.I cant run the specific MIO tests because it doesnt detect it.
Not sure how to proceed, any advice would be great

Welcome to the forum.
Sounds like the File Area "recommended" the wrong file to you, causing your MIO-Board to get "back-flashed" and possibly even "bricked".
What "release" Aurora do you have (or what processor is installed). What is your warranty status?

It's an Aurora ALX with an i7 920 2.67 GHz, out of warranty.

Please try Power Dissipation Fix again. Then try Dell Diags (outside of Windows) one more time.
Shut-down machine properly so it will turn off. Unplug from wall or UPS. Hold down power button for 20 seconds to dissipate any electricity in machine and MIO-Board. Wait another 20 secs before powering up. See if that very simple procedure resets MIO-Board.
Run Dell Diagnostic on the MIO-Board. If Dell Diagnostics doesn't detect a MIO-Board at startup, the MIO-Board tests will not be available or listed. All the other tests that ARE listed, will likely test good. If this is happening, it must be corrected first. You really have to observe these MIO-Board tests, because the results are very important to the progression of steps to the final diagnosis or repair. If the MIO-Board tests fail in Dell Diagnostics, there is really no chance it will operate in Windows with Command Center software.

I tried Power dissipation again. Booted to windows; same results.
When I run the Diagnostics test from outside of Windows I get the same error again.
Error 5D00:0009
UUTUSBTM Device Initialization Failure.
When booting to Windows, same results. Loud fan, when opening Command Center I am prompted to upgrade (which I ignore), and when I view the Thermal Controller all fans display as 0 (which, as an aside, shows up just like that in Speed Fan as well).

Is your Aurora R1 really an ALX model? Does it have motorized louver fins on the top?
