You want the black one if you buy one. The green one is the old board. Just make sure it's black and says version 2. Both supports all the CPU's listed and they also support 6gb 1866 memory but the XMP profile may not work. Dell sold it with  6gb 1866 Kingston that did function with XMP but my Corsair never worked with XMP turned on. If you buy one then get the black board, no sense buying the older one. I can't find anything on the 9YF3D board but I'm sure it's the same as the 4D1YC.

thank you, the bios's are different though the the area 51 is using A11 i'm guessing thats the green board and the alx is using A10, i'd rather have an alx board, or are there differences in the casing like the aurora and its alx.i think i'll go with the XDJ4C, just now need to know what that will make my machine the area 51 or the alx.this is the problem when Dell refuse's to change the design each time a new board is available, all this rev 3 and 4 rubbish is silly, new design, new product and new board would make things alot easier for out of warranty users and would enhance dells profits and addicts(people like me) would buy the new systems yearly.

Both of them will work with all the CPU's listed if you update the BIOS. If you buy one then get the XDJ4C. If you already have the green version 1 board then just update the BIOS and then it will support the 6 core :) I don't think there is any difference between the green board and black board other then the Alienware branding. Performance is the same.

When I bom XDJ4C in our parts tool, it results in part 4D1YC. So they are one in the same.

This is an issue with the Dell download site. The ALX and non-ALX use the same motherboard and BIOS. The A11 is the one you want. The ALX and non-ALX have the same components. The only difference is the motorized front door and anodization on the aluminum side panels.
