hard drive failure after windows 10

so i downloaded windows ten to my alienware 14 and almost immediately it slowed down to a crawl. i figured maybe i just had to much junk on it. well two weeks later and i get a blue/ black screen with cursor i did a diagnostic and the hard drive failed the self test. :( so its failed or is failing. i want to buy another hdd but no resource or OS cd came with it and ive lost my back ups (we have just moved) i dont have a phone. where can i get a copy of these things.

You can request replacements if in USA Canada or UK if your warranty has not expired.

Hi,

Try running an ePSA/Diagnostics test on the system. Click here to view a Dell article that explains how to run the test. Let us know if you get an error code for the Hard Drive.

Did you actually get a BSOD (screen will be Microsoft blue with error code output) or was it just a black screen with a cursor?

If it's the latter, that's not a hdd failure but a graphics driver issue, a GPU overclock issue, or you need to update your BIOS.

Do you have integrated graphics (CPU), as well as discrete graphics (GPU)?  If so, try switching to the other and see if the issue is replicated.  If so, uninstall the driver for whichever's the issue and download the most recent from the hardware manufacturer (Intel for Integrated, AMD or Nvidia for Discrete).
