Thanks Karen for the quick response. sadly however none of your suggestions worked for me. Fn+8 does nothing. ive tried several hdmi cables. the video card is detected and i did a full clean uninstall then install and still nothing. the computer wont recognize that another display is connected. ive tried both port on my tv....this might drive me crazy haha,

If this was a desktop with a dedicated HDMI capable video card, there would be an HDMI Audio device appearing there that you set as default. In this case, the video card handles the audio, but all it's really doing is forwarding the digital audio out the HDMI port. An AMD card usually uses an onboard RealTek chip for that.
Then, you just go into the TVs setup menus, and set Speakers to TV (not Home Theater - Amp).
Thank you for all the help.. but i managed to get it working. i did a 3rd uninstall and re install of the video drivers and for whatgever reason its working now, however i cant seem to get the sound on my tv. i went into manage audio devices to change it to hdmi but there isnt even the option to do so. any clues on how i can fix that??

Hello peterkizz,
1.Try disabling and enabling HDMI feature by pressing Fn+8
2.Test a different HDMI cable.
3.Check if the video card is detected in the device manager.
4.Uninstall and reinstall video drivers, follow this link
