have you tried a clean install?
is all your driver's are up to date?

March 17th, 2014 05:00

ok I did a factory reboot and then I installed all the windows updates but I didn't install the NVidia update and everything is working fine now ,, im scared to update my graphics card cause of what has happened lol but I do have another question it has 3d vision should I disable that cause I don't use it right I mean I don't have 3d glasses or anything what confuses me is that when I purchased this laptop all I did was turn it on an do the windows updates an then NVidia driver update an then had nothing but trouble so I did factory reboot an didn't update graphics card an everything is fine ,,, do you think there is something wrong with the NVidia driver update ? do you think I should update ? or just leave everything like it is ? eventually do you think im going to have to update to make sure im running my system up to date ..... I just want it set up correctly so I can use it with min. problems thanks for all the help an sorry for my non sentences im typing really fast lol

Hey there man. I've had a similar issue for over a month now and im just getting to the bottom of it now.... I hope. Be careful when updating your Intel graphics card as if you put on the newest one from intels website it conflicts with NVidia drivers. Only use the one installed on your system originally or the one from Dels website. Its confusing because it says m17xr2 in the description which put me off downloading it. Instead I downloaded the newest stand alone Intel hd 4000 graphics driver which im sure conflicted with the NVidia driver as its not meant to be worked with optimus. Blue screen city it was crazy. Ive rolled back to NVidia driver 314.22 but I have an older 675m card and the new drivers available I believe are not very good for my setup. I am assuming you have an Intel card lol if its just the NVidia card running on its own the conflict could be something else. Nvidia it seems finds it very hard to keep support of cards which require third party support like an on board Intel card. I think this is due to there one driver for all system which I my opinion is terrible for the consumer but saves NVidia $$$$$$$ They have recently dropped support for there very old cards but they are very old. Even now by the way I get the exact same error as you on a one off blue screen on start up but then I don't get it again until I power down and re-start the same day. Im pretty sure its because both drivers are kicking in at the same time giving a bsod.

I'm glad the computer is working now.

We recommend you continue to update the drivers directly from the Dell website. These have already been tested and approved for better performance on your computer. The latest updates from NVIDIA are no necessarily the best or the most compatible with your system.

If you're not using the 3D capability, you can disable it from the NIVIDA Control Panel.

If you have any other questions, let me know!

So you are now outside the 21 days return time you had but I would call Customer Care and attempt to return it or have it replaced with a system that isn't configured with Nvidia cards. I have nothing against Dell or Alienware or Nvidia but recently the systems resembling yours have been plagued with graphics driver problems and BSODs.

Of course those errors look much different, though I didn't do any research, so fixing it might be as easy as 123.
