M14x R1 --- Discrete Graphics
Hi, I have a discrete graphics card on my M14x as well as an integrated one.
My integrated one seems to be my laptops preference in usage which is okay except, it will ONLY use my integrated card. I have yet to see my laptop use my discrete graphics card. This is a major problem while gaming. I can also not locate my discrete graphics card under any hardware profiling.

Any help would be appreciated! Someone told me the M14x uses optimization technology to choose which gfx card is better to use at any given time... is there any way to make it smarter or take over manual control? It makes horrible choices.

It will be a matter of changing the preferences and I am unsure of doing this (as I havent got my m14x yet). I would recommend you ring Dell technical support, explain your issue and they should be able to resolve it over the phone.

There are no options in the bios, nVidia, or Intell Graphics that allow me to change this. If its hidden somewhere I need to know where!

On the desktop, right click then select NVIDIA Control Panel. A window will open, under 3D Settings select Manage 3D settings. Now on the right there are two tabs, one for global settings, this allows you to select the preferred card. In the Program Settings tab you can select specific programs and set their defaults. So on games you can select to use High Powered NVIDIA graphics. You can also google "Optimus tools", there are a couple programs that you can run while playing a game and it will tell you whether the NVIDIA card is running or not.

Thanks. This should be enough to go on.
