M17x Black Screen Problem
Greetings,
I bought my m17x 1.5 years ago and it has worked great through that span, but I have encountered an issue. I will try to explain what happened in detail.
Yesterday I turned it on, it worked fine. I checked my email, played some games, then left for about an hour. I returned and it was still fine. However while I was using it, the graphics bacame wavy and a blue box with dialoge poped up in the middle of the screen. It happened so fast that I was unable to read it, but it said something about an error orruring with graphics...or something like that. Since then the screen is completely black. There are times when I boot in normal that I can see the cursor, but the screen is black.
After a lot of unplugging power cable, battery, and holding down the start button for 20 secs, I am able to log on. If I boot normaly then I will get into the desktop fine for about 10-30 seconds before the screen gets wavy and then its back to black.
I am able to boot into Safe Mode, and I have not encountered any trouble at all while here (I am in Safe Mode now).
I looked around and found that it may be my video drivers, so when I download them and try to install, I get an error saying that it is unable to load the detection driver. I have Windows C++ redistribution 2008 installed.
The other thing is that it will not let me uninstall the drivers. When I try using CCC, (well I think it is CCC, however I am unable to find it in the program list when I tried to uninstall) it says the same thing...unable to load detection drivers.
Everything on my machine seems to be working fine except for the video display. Start-up sounds like it is going through the normal process, but I get black screens.
With that I am at a loss as how to proceed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
