M17x keyboard not working properly
Hey everyone,
I just bought a new M17x about a month ago and it's never really even been used. Every time I try to use it, something isn't working properly. Internet Explorer doesn't work, It won't let me download Google Chrome, and Firefox has a blank about:home page anytime I use it. But the biggest problem is that the some of the keys on the keyboard only work sometimes. And then when some start working again, others stop working. I've had this problem ever since I bought the computer about two months ago and I've tried all troubleshooting steps and called Customer Support. CS simply stated that it sounds like a software issue which isn't covered by the 3 year extended warranty that I shelled out considerable dough for. So I paid about $4600 for this supposed bad-ass machine, which has thus far acted as the most expensive paper-weight I've ever heard of. I don't know what to do. Luckily I have my other computer to post this message, and hopefully someone out there knows something I can do to correct this problem. But I can say that I'm sorely disappointed in Dell's Customer Support. I don't believe that anyone should pay $4600 for a computer and 3 year extended warranty (that even covers spill damage) for a computer that doesn't work properly, then get told by customer support that they need to pay more money because it's a software issue when the damn thing didn't work right directly from the box. I didn't make any error other than ordering a computer that doesn't work right. Please someone help.

well first thing is why did you wait if it had issues out of the box, it could have been returned for a refund or replacement new system,( still can if withing 30 days i beleive)
anyway not much help i can do if did it out of the box but it is possible it is a software issue, you can try reinstalling windows ect from scratch, there is sticky here on proper way to do this ( NOT USING RESOURCE CD since it bricks light board) , this is a thought, if it still exsists it rules out somehting you installed or changed or a virus ect.... ( i got a brand new system and it came with a virus form factory( so dont rule this out it happens)

I agree with 89fordprobe and would reinstall Windows. This will fix any software or virus issues.
After you do the fresh install of Windows follow this guide for the correct order to install your drivers. Don't use anything from the resource CD but instead download from the Dell site to insure you are getting the latest drivers.
