M17xR3 Gpu fan and Charging Problems
I just bought a m17xr3 it was missing the gpu. I had a spare gtx460 a m17xr3 pullout lying around with a spare fan and heat sink so i installed and booted the laptop. what happens is when i turn the laptop on the gpu fan runs for a second or two and then turns of. I though there was hardware problem then i tried to flash the firmware and the fun came to life. as long as the flashing tool on dell to upgrade the bios is running the fan works without it the fan doesnt work and laptop heats up. secondly the laptop is showing plugged in but not charging. it tried removing the cell and battery still no luck it charges when laptop is turned of but not when its working. I have tried a07 modded bios a08 dell bios a10 dell bios no luck with both problems.
Sincerest Regards,

The Charging has now started to work all on its own the fans dont work I am using hwinfo64 and I am using custom auto profile everytime i boot I have to enable it from there and then they work. if i click on system auto the fans go to 0 rpm and stop on custom auto they work on manual they work.

Have you tried a BIOS update or a firmware update for the Video card?

Ok Updates I am now running a10 from r3 driver download page before when i used it I got only 1 gpu in windows fn + f7 used to restart and chage the gpu Now I have both Gpu showing in windows and when i press fn + f7 i get a "Yours graphics solution is automatically configured for optimal performance" I dont care about igfx or battery timmings I just want decent performance on the gtx460m and the fans to work how can i reset the firm to fix this problem as this is now evident that my instaltion of the cracked a07 has done something to system as i never had these 2 cards altogather in windows and now i cant get back to old config

I´m thinking that the a07 version that you installed could´ve damaged the motherboard and it might need replacement...

The board is not damaged If i run the onboard diagnostics the fans are perfect it is just telling the fans not to run software issue for sure. I have now added bios update to autostart on windows boot it starts the fan on boot i cancel the update and the fans still continue to work its definately a software issue. replacing a mother board is expensive :(
