need help installing a a gtx560 card

Hello Joe

1) The SPDIF is not needed to pass sound through the 560ti card. Just remove it from the system.

2) For the power just use any of your PSU power connectors, it wont matter which ones you use.

3) There will be enough room between the GPU and sound card so no worries about that ether.

Just plug in the 560ti, update your drivers and you should be good to go.

   im looking at the 560ti card 448core and there is an eight pin and six pin hookup

If you have the 875w PowerSupply...

- You use a 6-pin from one set of cables, and the 8-pin from the other set.

- Should be P14 and P17

If you only have the 525w PS ...

- You can only use P14 and P15 and hope for the best

- Should work (and not over amp that rail) because it's only a 560ti

yes im pretty sure i have the 875watt.....p14 is in the 260 card right now and the p15 is hanging off the p14 with a separate two pin that attches to it..

     however the p16 and p17 connectors have a tag on them that reads   "p16 and p17 connectors are not active on systems using 525watt psu"

what is that all about?  i sure hope i have the right psu!        so will i use the p14 and p17??

Possibly, but I would use P14 and P16 ... one from each set (like I already said)

should i take out my psu and make sure i have the 875w?  the only p/n i see is OGM34R

It's up to you... however, that is the one sure way to know.

The same labeled cable is used on all system (regardless of actually power supply size installed).

If you have the 875w PS, the label doesn't apply to you.

You know ... if you have the 875w ... and you can afford it ... a 570 or 670 would be a better choice. Not sure what kind of gaming you do, but a 570/670 would likely be the last card you would ever need to buy for that machine.

tesla i just put the rig back together  and it is the J556T 875w,,,thats a relief!

    as for gaming i like fps games and just put in borderlands2

definately going to look at the 570 and or 670......just depends on the money i want to spend...

my other thoughts have been with the cooling issue....i have a soundcard directly under the 260

so im weighing out the options of the fan in the middle of the card as opposed to the 560ti classified that has the blower type fan near the end of the card

and is 10.5 inches long.......any thoughts on that would be great as well....

   but heres what i just looked at ..it seems the 480 has the same cores as the 570 and similar speeds.......let me know what you think

I'm an AMD guy myself (these days) so maybe someone else can weigh-in on which exact card you want/need. Or, read reviews at the other sites.

I DO know ...

- For FPS games you need lots of gfx power

- eVGA is good (or, at least they used to be). I used to buy those back when I liked nVidia. Lifetime warranty (on most of their cards) is nice. I've got a blown 9800GT I need to RMA with them as a matter of fact.

- x70's are better that x60 because they are closer to x80's. 480 is pretty old (and runs hot)... I think you want 5xx or 6xx.

i would like a 680 but a little pricey for now....
