If you want, you can use the $550 you saved to swap the 1tb spinning drive for a big SSD. 1tb can be used for a external backup drive. You get to keep the Optical.
I just checked the website and you're right about the optical drive. I recommend you either go with Tesla's suggestion or call Sales in your region to order the configuration you want.
I'll do some research to find out why the option is not available on the website.
maybe this is a sign of a refresh i hope i cant believe they dont have a all ssd selection for a gaming laptop just dump the RAID0 and put in a 750gb ssd + 256G mSATA or better yet give us more choices
it looks like they fixed the web site buy removing the option but they still have some false advertising as you can see on this page http://www.alienware.com/Landings/laptops.aspx there is no raid 0 option for Alienware 14 laptop

IDK, but I suggest you instead order:
256GB mSATA SSD Boot + 1TB 5400RPM SATA 6Gb/s
