overclocking information

hello everybody,

sorry if my english is bad or poor, I'm gonna do my best to explain my request.

Before I introduicing ''overclocking'' I want to know if there are a risk for alienware

I'm not noob ... I have the basic knowledge and I am interested, I like to learn, read, study computer science in general.

certainly, and I'm sure that procedure ''overclocking'' isn't so difficult because is a '' Alienware '' : )

Yes i was watching on youtube and speaking on forum about it.

And I think best way is speaking here.

everythink on my computer is really really great.

I'm a big fan of flight simulator (FSX)
I then post on a forum my pc specs and they told me that the graphics card was good but the processor is a 2.66Ghz
this game like high frequency
that's why I
'm here.

First, I have to update the bios, if so is there a README for installation
Secondly, is it really necessary to overclock to gain some FPS if there is a risk for the components of the system.
I currently running in 15 - 30FPS, often 25-30FPS is good I think.
Third, as you recommend me?
overclocking or not?
if so, how has overclock.
3.2 / 3.5 / 3.7?

Here are
my components

somereason i cant load the link you posted.. anyway FPS is more Video card related then  CPU, CPU frequency has little effect  to make big changes...

anyway since i get get ur link to work what video card you got what specs what cpu? ram etc..

Hi!

First, I have to update the bios, if so is there a README for installation

To update the BIOS, you can use this article as a guide for step by step instructions (check under "Flashing the BIOS").

Secondly, is it really necessary to overclock to gain some FPS if there is a risk for the components of the system.
I currently running in 15 - 30FPS, often 25-30FPS is good I think.

overclocking or not?

There's always a risk of overheating and stability problems if the overclocking is not done properly.

It would help to know what you're trying to accomplish by overclocking. If you're looking to improve FPS, as explained by 89fordprobee, overclocking wont help. In that case it's better to look for a video card upgrade or check if the low FPS are being caused by a driver/software issue.

Please verify your Alienware model and specs for further assistance.

I get this from Forum Flight Simulator X ... the topic date 2011

*FSX requires a CPU running at a minimum of 3.0GHz to get any reasonable performance.
For good performance 3.5-3.9GHz, and really good to excellent(by todays standards) requires well over that.

The king, on a realistic budget, right now seems to be the i7-950, at under 300$ and clockable well over 4GHz you would be hard pressed to make a better choice.

It does require an LGA1366 motherboard which runs the gamut from mid $100 to over $400. Expansion, and OC capability will drive the choice there.

6GB of Quality DDR3-1600 Low latency RAM,
A video card like a GTS250 and up,
a good PSU that exceeds the selected vid card's req'mt,
A min 7200RPM HD with 32MB cache, and the normal peripherals will round it out.

The Antec and Seagate should be re-useable if $$ are tight. If your PSU meets the new vid's needs it can be kept also...Don

[edit]I forgot CPU cooling! My favorite airs are the Noctua 14 and Megahalems Rev B, the Corsair H70 is a good starter when going wet.*

now in bios you should have overclockign settings for level 1 level 2 ect.... and should be able to set it to about 3.2ghz from my understanding . From what I been reading hey are good recommending specs for gold package FSX to have a CPU like the 3770K(3rd gen I7) and a Nvidia GTX780 or better specs for full decent framerate seems this game has changed a lot since it was first released lol Also from what I am reading about the game the Game also HIGHLY boosts performance by being used on a solid state drive since it is constantly accessing hard driveand most mechanical drives bottleneck it badly

Check this article and go through the steps to overclock from the BIOS. If the option is not available, it's because your processor was not meant to be overclocked.

hi there : )

now I have the time to check up your link's , first I gonna upgrade the bios , I don't think to Overclocking , because : it's like going on 3.2Ghz all the time the pc working, I don't think it's a good idea and I don't run ''fsx'' all the time

the good idea come from fsx forum , they tell me to buy a hdd or ssd hard drive for my fsx only , buy some ram ... I know the specs for my alienware is :

1066Mhz and 1333Mhz Min 3Gb to Max 24Gb

1600Mhz Max 12gb

I think to buy the last on 1600Mhz 12Gb

and huh ... there is some manipulation or something I need to know before install the Ram ??

thank you : )
