R5 hardwares

Removing the hardware isn't difficult if you're experienced at it. See Youtube for Aurora Disassembly vids & consult the PDF Service Manual Dell.com Aurora Support Page. Because it's just 'basic computer stuff', on paper it should fit into a micro-ATX case (or full ATX) like any other hardware would. Doing paper calculations, the 1st question would be whether the power supply cables are long enough, since they're tailored lengths for R5 R6 with its reduced size & unique PSU mounting spot. When in doubt, buy extension cables (24pin / CPU 4pin 8pin / SATA / Grfx etc) or simply buy a name-brand aftrmrkt PSU (EVGA Corsair Seasonic etc). Whether the cooling tubes (when a person has the liqwid cooling unit) will reach the roof or rear of case, would be determined at point of impact / install (ie depend on the specific case you pick). Cooling fan placed on top / back of radiator should help with length. DVD may not transfer over

for the purpose of this discussion, it matters not to me if R5 R6 both have the exact color of wires left -to- right, maybe yes maybe no. What's important is the power on wires reside in the white LED Controller Connector. As the owner, you'll have to use a voltmeter:

• set to Continuity Test or OHMs, insert blk / red probes into white 12pin
• press 'on' button ... when voltmeter registers a reading, u found the power on / off wire-pair
• inspecting / probing the actual power button module can help identify the wire-pair also

Obviously a spare V593G LedController Harness is a plus (eBay completed items: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Alienware-Aurora-R5-R6-Desktop-PC-Side-Panel-Door-Light-Cable-V593G-0V593G-/282628627608?hash=item41cdfa9c98%3Ag%3Au58AAOSw1xhZpHMQ&nma=true&si=SHA1%252BAiITyRh1r0Nn54z5RlD92c%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 ) ... a person would be after the 12pin connector - mod it - so that only 2wires are left for power on, then patch them in / mate mthrbrd to new case on / off wiring 

depending on the computer case on / off wiring design / connectors, it is normal to have some iteration of the black 1pin and 2pin insulators (Dupont 2.54mm pitch); hopefully those snug onto the exposed LED Controller Connector pins, on whichever pins u verify are for power on / off

Otherwise you will need to look at JST 2pin or 12pin PH (?) connectors & devise a plan of attack. The Aurora R5 R6 mthrbrd *and case* are proprietary, require 'modding', may require a 'small case' due to some possible shrunken components. I don't own this computer, know of no one who's pulled the hardware out to retrofit in a different case, haven't much time nor interest in getting to the bottom of the on / off issue. Consult a local Pro for help, parts & advice, good luck with it. Maybe best to sell it all off & buy normal hardware ... ... ...
