Replacement Alienware m17 won't turn on

Last week I received my Alienware m17 R2 as a replacement for one ordered in April that stopped powering on after a week and a half. I got everything set up and it seemed to be working fine, so I shipped the old one back today, got home and planned to play some Final Fantasy 14, and....

No power. I tried the usual: different outlets, adapter/battery, power strip/direct to wall, with no change. The one thing I did notice is that in each case the green light on the power brick went out as soon as I plugged the other end into the laptop.

I immediately called Dell and they want me to send it back. I'm quite frustrated, and unhappy with the prospect of spending several more hours installing Windows updates and all of my games. Has anyone else experienced problems like this? Is there something I'm doing wrong or do I just have lousy luck?

We are sorry about the inconvenience. It sounds like the no power issue could be a failure in the motherboard. Sometimes these parts may fail and it’s hard to determine what can cause that. I do not believe there is anything you could have done to trigger this. All you did was reinstall your programs and applications, nothing like that could have caused this type of hardware problem.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
