Soft Touch on M17xR3 Peeling
My 2 month old M17X R3 has the “soft touch(rubber) coating” on the chassis upper front left and right corners s peeling /rubbing/coming off exposing the glossy plastic underneath
Anyone else seeing this on their M17X R3

I am reluctant to contact the Alienware resolution experts again after the previous problems I had with the onsite tech breaking my bottom plate. Then and having to jump through hoops to get a replacement. Sent (they sent the wrong one (11KR8) the first time prompting another call to get the correct one (C6P3Y) sent.

Hey you know what my laptop is starting to do the same...i bought mine in Feb 2012. Are you using a sleeve for when you are lugging it around? i know i am...maybe its the sleeve? i know people who kept on using the sleeve it came with would start to rub against the corners causing this kind of wear. I just might have to give Dell a call...Let me know if you do and i will update you after i do.

I cart my m18x around but I use a case with Straps to hold it still and no marks, in around 11 weeks.
I did manage to get some scratches around the USB sockets which kinda stinks, wish there was a bigger soft touch area around the sockets.
Anyway I don't use the original bag thing, so if Aevia does, and you do, that maybe the cause :)

Nevermind, I see that they today setup a dispatch to replace the following -
J9XWC Bottom Cover Assembly
WMCFH Palmrest/Touchpad Assembly
When looking at the picts below, I am not sure what your talking about?

The computer lives in the Alienware bag it came with and is transported in my Dell XPS-M1730 backpack.

This will teach Dell for cheaping out on the new M17x R3 and replacing the anodized exterior with <ADMIN NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU> plastic

I would be happy to deal with the weight diffrence of aluminum. for the superior quality.
