Some big problems with new Aurora bios A09
I took the bait and upgraded to the new a09 bios from old trusty a04, thinking support for 6-core cpu would be nice. But I encountered some major unexpected problems with the new bios.
1. much less overclockability. With a04, I can safely overclock my i7 960 to 3960 mhz (24x165mhz) with rock solid stability. With a09, the computer couldn't even POST at that speed, not even once.
2. with a04, if one overshoots the max overclockable speed, the mobo would attempt to POST 3 times, after 3 consecutive failures, it would automatically restore bios to default settings. now with a09, it's a one shot deal, mobo would make no additional attempt to POST if it fails to boot, nor would it automatically restore default bios settings. In other words, the user would be screwed with bios a09 in the event of a failed POST, the only solution would be to open up the case, remove the video card, and manually clear the cmos with a jumper. A big hassle.
I wonder if others here have had the same problem with the new bios. BTW, same experience with a08 as well. Disappointed to see the same problem still persists in a09.

Same here. I was doing fine with A04 with a 3.62 Ghz stable till I updated to A08. A04 would do what you said, < POST 3 times, after 3 consecutive failures, it would automatically restore bios to default settings>. A08 would hang up to 5 min. no post. After a week of that crap, I reverted to A04 and I got my "stable" system back. I'm not even going to think about updating to A09.

Recieved my new rig on the 14th may and died on the 14th may it took 5 minutes to boot alienware tech said upgrade bios to a09 so i did and killed the mobo had a replacement mobo fitted on the 18th with a07 bios tech said upgrade bios to a08 all ok still with 5 minutes to boot up spent last 20-30 hours reformatting and installing everything i now have a very fast boot up time of 60 secs however im no impress considering its the i7 980 3,33ghz 12 gig ram when my alienware m15x i7 920 2.ognz 8 gig mem boots up with identical programmes/software in less than 47 secs

I upgraded to Ao9 3 days ago,all ok . Still OC to 4.0 . Boots faster about 30 sec.
