Thunderbolt Dock and Alienware laptops

Hi, can anybody (maybe from Dell) confirm that the recently released Thunderbolt dock (TB-15) will work with the Thunderbolt equipped Alienware laptops (17r3 etc) or that there are plans to make it so?

To my mind, the dock adds a level of connectivity and utility that is unfortunately missing from the GA and is probably a better value proposition for many uses.

TIA.

Hi,

Unfortunately, we have not been given any information about this yet.

I can confirm that the latest Thunderbolt firmware and drivers posted on the Dell website for the Alienware 17 R3 allow the TB15 and Alienware 17 to work.  I'm typing this from my 17 R3 with two 4K monitors, ethernet cable, and USB devices all connected via the TB15 dock.  The dock will not power the laptop via thunderbolt but given the power requirements for the 17 R3 thats not a suprise.  But connecting two cables instead of six is pretty awesome

I, too, will confirm that it works, but in NO way can I say that it's stable as of April 06, 2016. In fact, I will say that it is very UNstable; frequently (and annoyingly) disconnecting and re-connecting itself throughout the day. So don't put any kind of back-up drive or ethernet connection on the dock. I'd like to think that it's a driver issue that will get resolved at some point soon. And considering that these drivers only just came out a week or so ago, I suspect they'll post an update soon. But it's VERY buggy at this time.
