Unable to set RAID in Aurora R4

Question

Hello,

I just got an R4 that came with a 1GB SATA drive and I'm trying to set up 2 Intel SSD's in RAID O for the OS. However, whenever I set the RAID mode in the BIOS and try install Win 7 it just asks for drivers during the install section and I can't get any further. If install Win 7 normally in AHCI mode I have no issues, however, I still can't set RAID ( even tried with two spare 500GB SATA drives on top of the SSDs ).

I had Studio XPS 9000 and it was easy peasy to do the RAID, but the R4 is not letting me do it. Any suggestions would be helpful as I'm down to the last week to return this. I've been trying to troubleshoot this for three weeks. For a system that costs this much and it can't do RAID is somewhat ridiculous. I tried calling tech support and they just wanted to charge me money since the system did not have factory installed RAID.

Are the raid drivers for your system available? If so you could put them on a thumb drive.

I tried that link two weeks ago and no luck.  If it helps the the BIOS is set to UEFI and not Legacy.  Begininng to think I have a lemon and it just needs to go back.  Could it be because my original system was not configured with RAID and that the recovery disk doesn't have the drivers for it and that's why it can't do RAID?

Also, whenever I try to reinstall Win 7 on the RAID setting in the BIOs I get to this screen during the reinstallation and can't go any further. &#xa0; &#xa0;

Tried putting the drivers on the flash drive, but they drivers do not show during installation.  The thumb drive shows up, but none of the files in it do.

I am experiencing the exact same problem. I have all of the SATA drivers available for the Aurora R4 on a USB flash drive. No files are visible without unchecking the "Only show drivers available for existing hardware" box. I have unchecked the box and tried installing all the SATA drivers with no success.

I can get past this screen without RAID active in the BIOS, but the only reason I bought this machine was for its upgrade potential. Disappointing.

It is very disappointing.  I'll go ahead and set up the return today and look at a different vendor for a gaming system or just build my own.  I'll fill out the review on the R4 at the Dell site as well to express my displeasure as well.

I managed to get it to work. Not exactly sure that flashing the BIOS helped but here is what I did:

1) loaded the Win 7 OS UEFI without the RAID

2) upgraded my BIOS from v2 to v3 with the Aurora R4-A03.exe

3) changed back to RAID in the new BIOS

4) loaded the Win 7 OS

5) used Intel® RSTe AHCI & SCU Software RAID driver for Windows (RSTe_3.2.0.1135) driver set from the Intel driver page: downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx*&DownloadType=

6) the necessary driver is in the /Drivers/x64/AHCI directory...look with the checkbox on to show the compatible drivers and the only one to show up is the magic ticket
