Uninstalling AW tools
My question is simple. These tools are too heavy and I suspect they cause problems with games. Would disabling them adversely affect the system? Would it no longer control the thermal features of it?

Which tools exactly and which system do you own?

I have the Area 51 and the application I talk of are the whole ensemble: the fx controller, remote service controller, thermal controller, etc. Under task manager, they're all bunched together (at least in Win8)

I also had a question about fresh install. It comes with Win 8.1 and when I tried to do a fresh install, it basically had a gazillion unrecognized devices in device manager. When I used the autodetect tool, it gave me all the possible drivers (both current and old) as well as all possible configurations and the official dvd that came with the PC can't be read at all.
How do I resolve this?

You mean Alienware Command Center then. Yeah you can uninstall it, but you lose the ability to modify the lights and such. You can always monitor your temps with other software.

So you did a fresh install and you can't install drivers at all? Something does not sound right when the fresh install happened.
Are you sure you cannot install the drivers from the resource disc (the disc that came with the computer)?
