what is the difference between 17 r2 and r3 models?
so i bought my alienware 17 r2 like 10-15 days before the new model came out (without knowing about the new one) can i trade in my r2 and pay a bit for the new one?

I had 17 R2 and exchanged for R3, so i can tell you the following...
1. 17 R3 has: newer skylake cpu, faster ddr4, thunderbot3, pci-express 3 SSD m.2 (R2 has 4 SATA m.2 slots, R3 has only 2)
2. option to have 4k 17inch panel in R3.
3. R3 does not have display port like R2.
4. R2 has 4 usb3 ports, R3 has only 3.
In terms of gaming, they are identical. I would exchange that 180Watts PSU they provided for 240W since the 180W is not powerful enough to handle gaming and will throttle your system.

Hi,
If you bought the system directly from Dell, you should be eligible for a full refund within the first 30 days of the purchase. We do not offer an option to trade in the system and pay the difference for another one.
