X51 CPU Fan Airflow Direction

I popped open my case to double check the type of CPU cooling fan I had in my X51, as I am having the whining issue. The thing that I noticed was the CPU fan was placed to pull air away from the heat sink. Most PCs that i've built, the fan is always placed to push air down onto the CPU heat sink, pulling cool air from outside the case. I'm just curious if this is the way it's supposed to be in the X51, or a possible manufacturing mistake?

Mine is the same. It seems the fan draws cool air from the grid on the top of the case, and then push the hot air into the funnel. The funnel directs the air out of the case.

Yeah, after watching some vids and looking at pictures of different X51s, they were all the same. So working as intended i suppose.

Hello

This info is very interesting as I am considering in changing the Fan  and I agree with you if we change the fan we have to make sure the air flow works in the same direction so push the hot air into the funnel

Was thinking in Zalman CNPS8000B Ultra Low Profile Quiet CPU Cooler  for as long as I  can change the direction of airflow, I think should not be that difficult and if it does not work out is not the end of the world as this model is very inexpressive

But anyway this thinking is under construction not sure of anything sure jet

I swapped out my fan with a Silenx ixtrema 80 seems to be working well and its super quite... I am just worred about the lower CFM but so far so good during gaming =) no cutting of the shroud required
