X51 no video issue

I just received my new x51 today and I attempted to hook it up to my new dell monitor using a hdmi cable. When I did this, my monitor said it was going into power saving mode and I got no video from the x51. I purchased a hdmi to dvi cable today but haven't been able to test it yet. Should this fix my issues? I'm wondering if this isn't just another issue with the x51, since there have been so many since launch. Thanks

I'm using a DVI to HDMI cable myself and it works fine. I would think it was probably just a setting worng with either the monitor or in you video card settings. Just make sure when you connect to the monitor, it's set on the proper input, if it doesn't auto detect.

Im using the discrete video card port and it was working fine yesterday. Today Ive turned it on and the monitor is saying no video input.

Anyone can help me out here on why this is happening? I've dont the standard pull out and plug in and restarts but not working.

I'm having the same issue now.  It was working great for months.  Now it's not sending any video to the hdmi.  Help!

Same problem here, i have a year with the x51 and sometimes when i restart the screen stay black using the discrete with the mini hdmi, then i need to change to the onboard with the normal hdmi and prey that the next reboot use the discrete. But today i turned off the tv and when i came back the screen was black, i changed to the onboard but now i cant use the discrete, the BIOS is very bad, doesnt matter wich option IFGX/DISCRETE you choose is the same problem...

Thanks..

How does it work, if you always ...
1. Turn on HDTV first or at the exact same time as x51
2. Never turn off TV manually (while x51 is booted up).

HDMI does protocol-negotiation, so don't treat system like a conventional computer display system. If there is an AVR between PC and HDTV, same rules apply to it.

Thanks for the fast reply, the problem is that im stuck on the onboard card, i cant go back to the discrete nvidia, in the BIOS the setting appear DISCRETE but when i boot the system use the onboard, i tried everything that appear in the support page, and since the first day when i bought it i have this problem but back days i just reboot the pc like 4 times until the nvidia card appeared, i dont know if the nvidia card gtx 555 is dead or something, i tried to install a new driver but i cant do that because when you are using the onboard intel the system do not recognize the nvidia. I was using the Mini hdmi to hdmi in the discrete port, now im using the hdmi in the onboard port using the intel card.

Thanks.
