2350 Upgrade

I have looked through your forums for upgrade suggestions for a dimension 2350. I see the suggested processor upgrade to the 2.8ghz 400mhz Pentium 4. Is this processor too old to purchase? Is there any new options at this point in time? Is there any other upgrades for this computer I should consider. I have added ram and video card, but still run a celeron processor. Please Advise all knowing Dell experts.

As you are using a Celeron, then upgrade to a P4, then your system's speed will increase.

both of my dimensions are a 2350 and a 2400 are both running on celerons. If you use it for home use like play music videos internet i would recomend not upgrading because you will not use the power. Although, pentiums are faster than celerons and more powerful. If this was not helpful please list the intentions of how you would you your computer.

Concur with Bev, the L2 cache difference between the Celeron vs. the P-4,  128K vs. 512K, should result in a significant increase in speed.  Of course, they don't give the CPU away, the price of a P-4 2.8GHz, 512K L2, 400FSB ~USD$200.

I also see a processor called pentium Xeon. Is this a different processor than non-Xeon ? Is a P4 Xeon the same processor that is the suggested upgrade for the 2350 ?
