2D/3D Video Fixed Transformation and Lighting Test Error
I'm having problems with my Dimension 4100 computer. My warranty as expired and I just spent $150 to get it repaired and I'm still having problems.
The main problem seems to be the video driver:
128 MD DDR NvIdia GeForce FX 5200
My system will not run with this driver installed on my system.
After uninstalling this driver my system at least works but still does not work correctly.
Aftering running Dell Support Center I get the following message:

The scan failed with the following error:

Please help. Do I just have a really heavy paperweight or will my system work again?

What did you have repaired?
It sounds on the surface liket the video card is bad or going.
When you say your system will not run what is the exact issue are you experiencing .

Did you install this card yourself? I see no listing for that card in the Drivers and Downloads page.
Lets go back and start with the basics as in what OS are you running, and what other hardware is in your system.

Hi,
Thanks for your assistance. I’ve been having this video problem for over one year. But I took my system to get repaired because I had removed some programs from my system and my system did not recognize my DVD drives. I tried to reinstall the drivers and followed the instructions to repair error code 39 and messed up my system more. I told all of this to the Staples service tech including the video problem. The repair guy reinstalled windows and undated my drivers. He stated that one of my DVD drive does not work and it might be a hardware issue. He said that he fixed the video problem.
If I install the video driver my system flickers on and off until my monitor turns itself off. I can only set the display properties settings to 800 by 600 pixels color quality low.
Without the video driver installed I have problems turning on my computer. My CPU boots but the monitor does not turn on. I have to reboot several times. Also, when I use the Start button to turn off the computer the Standby option is greyed out.

I did not install this card myself. nVidia - 128 MB DDR nVidia GeForce FX 5200 came with the system

Wow this is getting more interesting. There is no listing on the Drivers and Download page for your system running XP SEE HERE
So the question becomes as to where you got the driver from. Looking on the NVIDIA site one can find THIS DRIVER
You might try this one. Im still leaning towards the card not functioning properly.
One other thing go into Device manager and check to see if there are any devices with either a ! or X nest to them
