3100C PSU blown up

Hi guys

A question for the brains on these boards.

I have a 3100C with the MC638 PSU which recently went with a bang, the PC will now not power up, so, i assume the PSU has gone. My question... i'm having difficulty locating a MC638 anywhere in UK so cannot stick another one in to test if the Motherboard, chip etc... have gone too. Does anyone know if the computer is likely to be gubbed, or do dell pc's have some sort of safety feature to protect the Mobo etc... in the event of a PSU blowing up? Don't want to pay a fortune importing a PSU if the computer is beyond repair.

Thanks for any replies.

Thanks Bev!

i had a look around the Dell UK site and typed in the part number... no matches returned. I did find a few sites that sell the PSU but all are sold out, except an American company. just don't want to buy it and install it to find the computer is gubbed.

Thanks for the help.

The 3100c power supply is a proprietary unit, you need to contact Dell UK, for a replacement.

Bev.
