4.41ghz???

Question

Here's an interesting situation.  I have reinstalled operating system on a new, larger, 16mb cache hard drive.  System information now indicates my 3.2ghz cpu is running at 4.41ghz.  I no this can't be close to being accurate, so I also downloaded Belarc...same reading.  Any ideas why?  Every other system reading is normal.  Thanks in advance.

I dont know much about this stuff but from a experience i had with my last computer.

Ill share with you this but it might not have anything to do with your problem.

I had replaced the harddrive on on my old computer and it started doing the same thing (faster cpu).

The guy who had sold the computer to us said the computer OC'd the cpu to process the date from the Harddrive faster.

This was a old computer mind you and i dont see why a computer that good would need to.

So it probably has nothing to do with it.

That doesn't sound right at all. That would be one amazing overclock, if Dell let you overclock at all...which it doesn't, the BIOS are locked to prevent it. If it really was running that fast, you'd also need some amazing cooling to keep it from boiling itself. Have you tried looking in the bios, and multiplying the FSB times the multiplier? That should be the speed it's running at.

Don't I wish that my Dell came with a wild overclock...The bios (A02) read accurately.  It's just every other software (through Windows) reads 4.41ghz.  It's not a major issue since everything seems to run fine, just one of those wierd issues I can't figure out.
