4600 Will not boot
When I press the power button on the front of my 4600, the unit starts up but the screen remains blank. I ran through the entire Dell troubleshooting wizard online with no luck. The LED lights are GYGG, which is supposedly a PRV, or pre video system error. Any ideas??

First thing you can do is reseat the cards, cables, RAM, etc.
If that doesn't help, strip the machine down to the bare minimum (RAM and CPU only) and see if you get past that point.
If nothing else works, it could be the motherboard.

Thanks; I tried stripping it down and same results. I was afraid it might be the motherboard. I did some reading and others say you must replace the power supply and cpu along with a new board for this model at this age. Does that sound accurate? I looked at Tiger Direct and New Egg, its hard to tell which boards and which extra components you might need.
Thanks!

If you are just replacing the current board, then you shouldn't need to upgrade anything else.
Otherwise you might find it is easier to just replace the whole machine. Otherwise, all you are salvaging is the box (and Dell cases don't always accept non-Dell motherboards or even Dell motherboards of different models) and possibly the HD.

You should be able to buy a 4600 replacement motherboard from Dell Spare Parts , or from here @ $106.99 Free S&H.
