531 Desktop mouse not aligned

Question

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but as odd as this sounds, my mouse pointer is not aligned on my desktop.  I know you can align them for laptops, but with a desktop?    Basically, the mouse pointer is a bit off.  For example, if I want to resize a screen at the lower right hand corner, I have to move the pointer almost a centimeter to the right and below the corner of the screen.  To click on 'OK' or 'Allow' with Vista ask me for something, I have to put the tail of the pointer on the box.   The only thing that has seemed to help is changing the mouse pointer scheme, but even that is iffy.  It seems to work for a bit, but then is off on some screens.  I've tried two different mice and various USB ports.  My computer was like this since day one.  Getting a bit sick of it.   Any thoughts on this one?   Thanks, B

I've also tried downloading Dells Premium Optical Mouse software (R152685.EXE), which doesn't seem to have any purpose, but that didn't seem to help matters at all.   Perhaps this should be in the Vista forum?

Problem solved.

It is a vista issue. To solve (if anyone else has this issue):

Go to mouse pointer properties and change your pointer scheme to "none." None of the vista pointer schemes seem to work on some computers.

thanks for your post, i have had the same problem for a while and was getting no response from Dell.   as you said problem now sorted, so obviously a problem with Vista?   Thanks

That is how it appears to me.  What is odd is that it is only some computers that have this problem, and it doesn't appear to be many.

hmmm, seems a bit strange? should i contact dell and see if its a problem which can be sorted?

I'd just turn off the mouse pointer scheme and call it good.  They aren't really necessary anyway.

Received my XPS420 with Vista using Aero on 01/07/07 and encountered the same mouse issues. I first noticed the problem trying to select check boxes or radio buttons and either I couldn't select the option or it would select the box below the box I was trying to click. I tried a couple of other schemes and only the "None" scheme worked. Thanks, for the solution.

Update.
The solution above worked by still encountered problems. Later found the solution of updating the video driver for my ATI card. This worked and haven't experienced the issues since. I did turn on my schemes without any issues.
