It uses DDR3. It's cheap because its only 12 pixel pipelines...But, those can always be unlocked ;)

I believe the memory is clocked at around 450 MHz (900) DDR3

where in the world did anyone get 600 MHz that would be 13 MHz faster than the X850 XT PE and that card stock is overclocked almost to the maximum of the fastest DDR3 memory there is for consumer electronics.

I believe any individual can overclock to the extreme, but it is the rare individual, that can actually make it work for them.

the X850 has memory clocks up at 1.2 GHz, so i dont know what you are talking about fiber

a better question is how did you make it not clickable?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814121532 look at the memory spped its almost 1.2 GHz not quite tho

this is totally off topic but whats the code to make the URL clickable?

The 6800 PCI-e version actually only has 12 pixel pipelines so there is nothing to unlock. The 6800 AGP version is marketed as having 12 pipelines but structurally has 16 pipes with 4 masked/locked. Some folks have been unsuccesful in unlocking those pipes while others have reported instability after unlocking them so had to go back to the original configuration. Unlocking is not a sure thing but if you're successful you can get a ~10% performance boost. :smileywink:

Tallbballman,

I can see you do not know what I am talking about since when you mention memory clock speed the memory clock is 587 MHz on my card 1174 MHz effective speed for the X850 XT PE. Double 600 MHz and you get effective speed of 1200 MHZ now isn't that strange I believe you should read up on how memery Core and Clock speed is calculated.

Personally I would be a little red in the face if I couldnt figure out that 2 x 600 equals 1200 MHz. also most people do not spreak in terms of effective speed.
