activation error

i have 2 windows xp service pack 1a discs..i dont know which one was used for either of my computers...one of the computers needs a reinstall but i dont know which to use...i reinstalled the one i thought was correct but it wont    take the product code...mistakingly i put the discs in the same envelope...now i dont know which one to use for the dimension 4400..is there a way to tell which reinstallation cd goes to which computer...

It doesn't matter which disk you use so long as both are the same type of Windows; either XP Home or XP Professional.  The product code is not locked to a particular disk, only to the version of Windows.  Use the disk whose version matches the product code sticker on your machine.
