ActiveX Controls Security

When I access certain pages, I get a message saying my current security settings prohibit running ActiveX Controls on this page.  I've tried fiddling with my security settings, but nothing has worked so far.  I checked out www.pcpitstop.com and tried their solutions, but nothing has worked.  Help!

taggit,

One cause of this is a corrupted Java virtual machine, but that is probably not causing your current problem.

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools|Internet Options|Security tab. Click the "Custom Level" button. The first five entries on the window that opens deal with ActiveX controls and plug-ins. They should be set (in order) to Enable, Disable, Disable, Enable, and Enable. Scroll down to the Scripting section and check Enable for Active Scripting.

I checked those options, made sure they were in order, and tested my activeX again, but it still didn't work.  Is there anything else it could be?

It may depend on the security privileges your account has.

What OS?

My OS is Windows XP.  How do you check/change your security priviledges?
