adding a linksis wireless router

Question

I was doing fine but the install program on the disc that came with the router said my ethernet was not hooked up.  Everything seems fine, all front panel lights work properly but in the back of my dimension 2400, the network light is yellow and not green. Do I have to worry about anything? I am awaiting my wireless compatible laptop which i plan on networking with the desktop using this router. thanks Joe A

What brand and model router is it? Are you using Windows XP SP2 or something different?

The router is a linksis, WRT54g and yes my dell dimension 2300 is an xp with sp2

Excellent router choice.  I spent a lot of time on the Linksys Forums researching routers and reading about everyone's problems.  Its a bit overwhelming.  There seem to be hundreds of posts a day with wireless network issues.  Try it if you like.   For me, the best source for help setting up my wireless router and home network was here;   http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/default.mspx   Follow the steps they provide and see if it helps.
