I have a deminsion L running ME. When I lug in to usb port the updating hardware information database progress screen comes up and the progress bar stays at 0. unable to add hardware. Have re-installed OS. Any ideas?
This is a guess at what may be causing the problem, but it is common in Windows ME systems. Look in your Windows\Inf folder and see if there are thousands of 0 byte .inf files. If there are, delete them. See the following MS Knowledgebase article concerning the problem:
