adding second hard drive

We installed a second hard drive to our XPS 400 and it doesn't show up in my computer.  Any ideas?

Thanks,

the hard drive may also need to be initialized, Right click my computer, then lrft click manage, then click disk management...you may need to scroll to find the drive,, click on the text portion corresponding to the drive...i think right click, then click initialize. followed by format

Have you checked in the system setup [BIOS], that the SATA port it's connected to, is Enabled [on]?

Details of the System Setup are HERE, then the hard drive needs to be partitioned and formatted using disk management.

The set up wizard asks me partition size.  Do I do it almost to the maximum amount?

thank you.  I now have enabled the SATA port.  Do I partition it in primary or extended?  We are new at all of this.
