Administrator password

Question

i decided to set up the accounts on my computer with myslef as the administrator and my wife and son as limited users. my wife could not download spread sheets she needed for work so she attempted to enter my account but my password did not work. i also attempted to try to get in and could not get it to work. is there anyway to fix this without reloading xp. i do not have a password disk.

You are probably trying to log in as a member of the Administrator group, rather than the Administrator. If you have set an Administrator password, you need to log on as Administrator to change passwords for all accounts (including yours as a member of the Administrator group). If you are running XP Home I believe you have to do this in Safe Mode (in XP you can do it in Normal Mode). At the Welcome screen press Ctrl-Alt-Delete twice. When the sign-in window appears enter Administrator as the username and enter the password you have set. Once you are logged on you should be able to set a new password for your named account.
