advice on processor for desktop
Hey all,
As we know, it's never the brightest idea to go get the newest thing available, as you will pay some crazy, inflated top dollar for it. Better to wait six or so months and you then get a fair price.
That being said, for my new desktop i'm looking at getting, it seems clear to me that the E8500 Core 2 Duo processor (3.16Ghz/core) is WAAAY overpriced. Whereas, the E8400 (3.0Ghz/core) is like 200 dollars less.
Is it worth it to get the E8400 or is it also still overpriced for what it is?
Opinions anyone on what processor to get.
Thanks.

Indeed, i think it COMPLETELY stupid to get an E8500 for an extra .16Ghz at $200 or so more.
That wasn't my question.
My question is it also perhaps unwise to get the E8400, based on the idea of not wanting to get the newest thing, waiting till the price comes down, etc? Now, considering you have the E8400, there may be a bit of bias here :)
My gut tells me that the E8400 is not way overpriced, but a good choice to buy.
Opinions?
